Malika Andrews and Stephen A. Smith are two of the most famous NBA personalities on ESPN.
Last week, Smith made headlines when he reportedly called himself underpaid despite earning $12 million per year. Of that amount, $8 million is believed to be salary and $4 million reportedly comes from a production contract.
“We don’t always trust this country in terms of merit. We know the bottom line is that just as women are paid less than their male counterparts, blacks are paid less than their white counterparts is paid.
“I’m not talking about myself, even if I got the news for you, I get paid less than some people on television, but that’s a topic for another day. I d- no apologies to mn soul for that I’m asking. I’m underpaid. Having said all that, it’s not about me.”
Naturally, this shocked many about Andrews’ salary compared to Smith’s.
According to The Sports Rush, Andrews’ salary is estimated to be in the high five-figure to low six-figure range.
“Andrews, despite being the face of several shows at ESPN, earns anywhere between $50,000 and $78,000 annually,” the report said.
Her net worth is also floating around the range of $100,000-200,000 depending on the source.”
Smith’s assessment that he was underpaid is not unfounded. He is the face of ESPN. Other faces of the network such as Sean Hannity, Rachel Maddow and Anderson Cooper command much bigger salaries than they actually are.
But it’s also crazy that Andrews isn’t the top grossing leader in the world. He is quite a headline maker in his own right.
Andrews’ awkward interview with Jay Morant and the controversial Golden State Warriors created as much buzz as Smith has recently.
And he is no less adept at grabbing headlines for non-sporting reasons.
Andrews’ alleged affair with an ESPN co-worker caused a lot of discussion on Twitter.
It’s really no different than Smith who has been in the news lately for rumors about himself and a female ESPN co-worker.
