Magnitude 4.4 earthquake shakes California's Wine Country

A 4.4-magnitude earthquake shook California's Wine Country and was widely felt in the San Francisco Bay Area on Tuesday night.

The earthquake occurred at 6:39 pm

Intensification was observed near the Sonoma County city of Santa Rosa in the North Bay at a depth of 4.6 miles, according to the US Geological Survey.

The epicenter was 1.8 miles south of Santa Rosa and 48 miles northwest of Berkeley.

According to the USGS shakemap, it was felt as far south as San Francisco and as far north as Clear Lake.

  As of 7:15 p.m., more than 2,700 people had reported feeling the quake to the USGS.

Many hopped on social media to report feeling the quake.
