Mega Millions prize: 2 claim $1.3B jackpot

Illinois lottery officials say two people have won the $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot.

One ticket was sold in suburban Chicago in the July 29 drawing.

The pair opted to accept a one-time payment of $780.5 million, splitting the nation's third-largest lottery prize.

The Illinois Lottery said it could not share any information about the winner should they be "over the moon" with the prize.

Whether a winner can remain anonymous varies by state.

Lottery officials said the winners spent several weeks doing professional legal work to support the claims process.

"These winners are now in a position to decide what to do with their new assets," Harold Mays said in a statement.

The winning numbers were 13-36-45-57-67 and the Mega Ball was 14.
