Power returning to Austin airport after morning outage leads to cancelled flights

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport lost power before dawn Wednesday morning, leading to canceled flights and frustrated flyers.

Flight delays should still be expected, the airport said, and passengers should check their flight status before heading to AUS.

The airport posted on social media just before 5 a.m. confirming the outage in the terminal. It said, “airport teams have been dispatched to investigate the cause of the outage

Internet service also was restored, which means the Transportation Security Administration checkpoints can resume screening passengers.

AUS said the flights were halted as the crew worked to find the cause of the outage. KXAN crew inside the terminal said security lines began screening passengers at 7:40 a.m.

Austin Airport is delaying flights following a power outage Wednesday morning, The cut left passengers sat in the dark for over an hour and closed TSA security lines for even longer.
