If you’re a Yellowstone fan, you inevitably have your own opinion of Mr. John Dutton, played by the great Kevin Costner.
As much as you root for the Dutton family, I think that with a little reflection and you begin to understand that they are an evil empire. It’s a weird place because on the one hand, you’re rooting for Dutton, his commitment to the ranching community, his patronage of the cowboy way, his respect for the land, etc…
But on the other hand, they basically kill anyone who gets in their way. And I agree that most of the time his bad deeds are on the defense, as opposed to starting it, but we can’t act like Dutton is a saint here.
Beth is borderline psychotic, Jamie (who is adopted) has issues of her own to deal with, Kays can’t go two weeks without killing someone (even if she’s also the hottest member of the family). It is clear that John has had a profound and generational impact on the lives of his children.
And while it’s easy to see that John is one of the most stubborn humans on Earth, he admits to something unique in this latest teaser from Season 5.
The new governor of Montana says:
“It must break my wife’s heart and look down at how much I messed up this house.”
He follows this:
“And the sacrifice that it took to give us a home… the sacrifice is what we’re going to make.”
We’ll know as soon as Yellowstone Season 5 premieres November 13th on the Paramount Network.
Kevin Costner asks Yellowstone fans his hopes for Season 5
Yellowstone Season 5 has the green light, production begins in May, and if we’re lucky and there’s no delay, we’ll be ready for the season premiere on November 13th.
And since that initial announcement, we’ve learned a few things… one of which is that Jane Landon (Teeter) and Katherine Kelly (Jimmy’s fiancée Emily) have been promoted to series regulars.
That means Jimmy, who appeared to be leaving for Texas at the end of Season 4, will also be a big part of Season 5.
Several stars of the show took to social media to share the news about Season 5 and even the lead man Mr. John Dutton himself shared the news on Instagram.
Sharing a photo of the iconic Dutton Ranch, Kevin Costner asked fans:
What do you want to do in season 5?
And there were many different answers, but three in particular had the most traction:
Goodbye Monica Dutton
Clearly, Yellowstone fans can’t stand Monica.
The wife of Kays Dutton and mother of John’s grandson Tate, Monica (Kelsey Asbil) is public enemy number one in the world of Yellowstone.
As for Season 5, many fans wanted to see Kayes leave her, and in some cases, even want to see her dead.
“For Kayas’s wife to be sent forever.”
“A Single Kayas To Return To The Farm”
“I want Kayce to leave Monica.”
“Hopefully Monica goes too far and Kays finds a real woman… not a ‘poor me’ victim.”
“Monica dies! I’ve had enough for her now.”
Gee, tell me how you really feel…
At least Beth has his back:
Jamie and Beth Reconcile
Another popular hope for Season 5 is that Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and her brother Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) find a way to bury the hatchet.
Admittedly, as the season progresses, it seems like things are going to get worse and worse between them, but when he shoots his biological father Garrett Randall (Will Patton) in the head, there’s probably hope. .
